Who are the guides for?

They are particularly suitable for students who:

• are currently working around Grades 5–7 and want to progress;

Is this collection written for AQA?

Yes. All eight guides are written specifically for AQA GCSE English Language and English Literature. They use AQA-style questions and focus on the skills rewarded by the AQA assessment objectives.

Is it suitable for students currently achieving Grade 5 or 6?

Yes. Students do not need to be achieving Grade 9 already. The guides are particularly useful for students currently working around Grades 5–7 who want to improve their structure, analysis and use of evidence. The answers provide an ambitious standard to work towards.

How should students use model answers?

The answers should be studied as models, not memorised and reproduced in an examination. Students can examine how arguments are developed, quotations are integrated, methods are analysed and paragraphs are connected. They should then apply these techniques when planning and writing their own responses.

Can schools share the files?

A personal purchase does not permit distribution to a class or school. Separate school licences are available for internal use. Licensed files must not be placed on a publicly accessible website or VLE, and they may not be resold.
